Infinity Mirroring

The installation at Station Contemporary Art Gallery talks about this state of confusion, the constant multiplication and transmission of the reflection of the phenomena depicted, along with their deformation and deconstruction. To this effect, it combines the natural optical effects of Stella Vasileva’s object-based work, which materializes light (and which can also be considered a symbolic entity) in combination with mirrors, transparent materials or tanks of water, with the paintings and objects of Iskra Blagoeva, whose work is infused with a reassessment and reinterpretation of the mythological foundations of our patriarchally-oriented culture. In contrast, Vasileva’s work is more meditative, immersed in the analysis of natural laws. She focuses on light, its impact and rhythm, which she thematizes in geometric structures. Their overlaps cooperate and establish a dialogue with their surroundings – the gallery space and other works. It is the interplay between social patterns and the physical nature of mirroring that reveals how the principles of the propagation of norms resemble the propagation of light or reflections in nature. Indeed, mirroring in psychology can also be understood as the instinctive imitation of others behavior in social interactions. On a societal scale, therefore, a form of a kind of social mirroring can be considered. Curated by Jana Babušiaková
